Islander’s Human Resources/People + Culture policies and programs prioritize the safety, well being, and equity of our employees. Through our benefits program and People + Culture lead, we support physical, psychological, and social safety protocols. Our policies and benefits support mental health, maternity and parental leave and well being needs.
Our Reconciliation Action Plan has been put together by our Indigenous Engagement Professional, Sara Curly. She has built a robust framework that we are currently learning and practising.

We are pleased to be a new sponsor for the 2026 Conference on Diversity in Engineering, UVic, Bridging the Gap: Building a Foundation for Equity. At Islander Engineering, our Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion team lead by People + Culture, develops policies, programs, and events that foster inclusion and belonging at our work place and in the community.
Islander sponsors education and training programs with workshops such as the Community Learning Program (Victoria Native Friendship Centre), Community of Practice: Adaptive Equity (Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion). Our team also hosted and participated in Bringing the Teachings of Ka’nikonhri:io into Corporate Culture, Speaking from a Good Mind.
